Ingredients

• 3 tablespoons and 1-3/4 teaspoons butter 50g
• 3 tablespoons and 1-3/4 teaspoons water 55ml
• 2-3/4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder 5g
• 1 tablespoon and 2-1/4 teaspoons buttermilk 25ml
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1g
• 1/2 eggs, beaten
• 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1ml
• 1/4 cup and 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour 55g
• 1/4 cup and 3 tablespoons white sugar 90g
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 0.5g
• 1/8 teaspoon salt 0.7g

• 1 tablespoon and 2-1/4 teaspoons butter 25g
• 2-3/4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder 5g
• 1 tablespoon and 1/2 teaspoon buttermilk 20ml
• 3/4 cup and 2 tablespoons and 1 teaspoon confectioners’ sugar 105g
• 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1ml
• 3 tablespoons and 1-3/4 teaspoons chopped pecans 25g
• 1/4 pinch salt

Conclusion
Perfect balance of flavors, but not exciting at all. I added 20% more cocoa powder as suggested by other reviewers to the cake and icing. I also did half half brown white sugar. What you get is a dense and moist cake, with a thin skin I guess. The icing was quite good. With the addition of buttermilk, it kinda hid away the butter taste. I won’t be making this cake again though, it was just not extraordinarily good.
